1. Commission a Portrait Painting? Here’s How:

When ordering a portrait painting from a photo, I will first ask you for all the important details: the type of motif, background, style, and the size of the painting. Then, you can send me the corresponding photographs or another image reference via email. Consultation for a custom painting is free and without obligation.

Depending on the complexity, completion can take 2 to 6 weeks. From the drawing to the finished painting, you can follow the progress of your painting by email. The completed commissioned artwork will be stretched on a stretcher frame and equipped with hanging hooks. If you wish, I can also frame your painting for you.

Overview of the Ordering Process:

  • Decide on the motif, background, style, and size of the portrait painting
  • Send the photographs or reference image
  • Commission the painting
  • Follow the creation of your oil painting via email
  • Completion takes 2 to 6 weeks

2. Your Benefits with a Commissioned Painter:

Since you can follow the creation process, you’ll receive an artwork that truly satisfies you. As an artist, I only work with high-quality, proven materials, such as lightfast paints and premium canvases, ensuring long-lasting durability.

3. Style and Technique

When commissioning a portrait painting, you can choose from various painting styles and techniques:

  • Classic oil paintings
  • Modern acrylic paintings
  • Mixed-media wall art
  • Paintings on canvas or solid supports

4. Classic Oil Painting

Do you want a portrait painted in oil? Oil painting has been around since the 13th century and has been continuously developed over the centuries. In the past, artists had to mix their own oil paints, but today, oil paints are available in tubes. Famous artists such as Vermeer, Rembrandt, Monet, van Gogh, and Dalí all used oil paints.

Your desired painting can be created on either a canvas or a solid support. The canvas will be stretched on a wooden stretcher frame. The finished painting can be displayed with or without a frame. Every portrait painting is a unique piece, hand-painted with great attention to detail. The distinctive features of my oil paintings are their long-lasting durability and the high vibrancy of the colors used. Oil paints remain lightfast for centuries and will not fade.

Full-Body and Half-Length Portraits

  • Full-Body Portrait: This type of portrait depicts the person standing or sitting from head to toe. The posture of the subject is crucial, as are the lighting and background. These elements provide additional context about the person portrayed. For example, a subject could be depicted standing upright while gazing at the ocean or seated in a chair. The perspective also plays a key role—whether painted from a low-angle (“worm’s-eye view”) or at eye level, the final composition can create very different effects.
  • Half-Length Portrait: This style captures the upper body down to the waist. It is one of the most popular portrait styles, as it presents the subject in a flattering way. Posture and clothing are essential artistic elements that contribute to the overall impact of the painting.

As a commissioned portrait artist, I offer the highest quality at a fair price. Are you looking for an artist to create a personalized portrait? Then you’ve come to the right place!
